How Need a Vehicle works.
One short story for renters, one for owners, and the list of what we actually check before a car goes on the site.
Renting, start to finish
- 1
Find the vehicle
Search by city, add your trip dates, and browse only the vehicles a lister can actually hand over in that window.
- 2
Verify your ID and driver's licence
Upload your ID and driver's licence. Our team reviews them once.
- 3
Request to book
Pick your dates inside an open window and send the request. The lister accepts or declines.
- 4
Collect the keys
Your booking shows the lister's phone number and the exact pickup point, and you can message them there. The vehicle you saw is the vehicle you get.
Listing, start to finish
- 1
Tell us about the vehicle
Make, model, year, city and your day rate. Photos of the car from the standard angles help it rent faster.
- 2
Upload the documents
Registration and fitness. A person on our team checks them before the listing goes live. You keep your insurance current.
- 3
Set your availability
Open the windows when the vehicle can go out. Closed windows never receive requests.
- 4
Answer booking requests
See who is asking, accept or decline, then hand over the keys. Your earnings appear in your portal.
What we check before a listing goes live
Public search only returns active, approved vehicles with current registration and fitness on file. Here is what that means in practice:
Checked papers
Search returns approved, active vehicles with current registration and fitness documents on file. Owners remain responsible for insurance and compliance (see Terms).
Renter identity checks
Renters submit their ID and driver's licence for review. Your account shows the status of your documents at every step.
Availability windows
Listings become bookable only inside the windows the lister adds. No window means no booking for those dates.
Secure account actions
Bookings and account changes happen after sign-in, with email verification on the way in.
Owners remain responsible for lawful insurance and compliance, as set out in the Terms of Service.
